Our Transformation

Greensboro’s longest standing rental company, A-1 Rentals on North Elm Street, was acquired by Rental Works in April of 2009 and will now be called Rental Works for its tool rental division and Partymakers for its party rental business.  “My goal is to provide the best product and service in the Triad.” said William Duke, the new owner of Rental Works & Partymakers.  We have updated our facility, trained our staff, and purchased new equipment to insure that we give clients the highest quality rental experience in Greensboro.

A-1 Rentals opened around 1955 to rent tools, party goods and costumes.  Don Johnson, who sold the business to Duke, said his father first opened the business, then called The Tool Box, on Battleground Avenue. It moved to its current North Elm Street location in the mid-1970s. Party and costume rentals were added over the years.

One distinct difference is the transformation of the building, both the interior and the exterior. The exterior has been painted, landscaped, new signage has been added, and it has lighted window displays that show off party products. The interior now has defined seperation between the showroom space and our dishroom. Our showroom is redesigned every few weeks to give our clients new and fresh ideas about linens, china, tablescaping, and centerpieces. All of the outdated rental equipment is gone and approximately 90% of our rental equipment is brand new!
